Shoestring Theory

Currently documenting the house that is eating our lives, we will return to regularly scheduled programming in a couple of more months

Because I wasn’t busy enough, I found more to do

So I really don’t know how to just take a break. After finally getting most of the house done, and moving in, I’ve started picking up some freelance pieces from the Lawrence Journal-World. The first piece ran today, on a local cookbook author and her first book. You can check it out here!

Also, the ladytheorist and I are working on a side project that’s ridiculously exciting and we’ll hopefully have some news on that within a few weeks, and a new website to be launching along with the announcement. As a hint, I’ll just say that it’s related to tabletop gaming.

Plus, to add to my plate, I’ve been helping a couple of friends work on their houses, you know, because I didn’t get enough of my own. Hopefully I’ll have some pictures to share of the work we’ve done at those two houses soon.

The Submit button may not be appearing or working correctly in IE6. I would suggest upgrading to IE7 or Firefox 2 for full functionality (I'm still looking for a solution to this if anyone knows one).

Man, I am so jealous that you get to do so many nifty projects!! I can’t wait to hear about your side project. Maybe it will be related to the awesomely timeless Talisman? 🙂

It is not related to Talisman, but I promise, I should have some news soon. I originally thought I would have something to talk about this week, but life intervened and it’s progressing a little slower than I thought.

In my early 20s, I was really lazy. But somehow, a few years ago, I became a workaholic and I can’t abide not having at least 3 or 4 different projects going on at once. If I get down to just one or two, I start feeling like I have too much free time.

Well your drive is neat, but what impresses me most is you get stuff done. You (seemingly) do not wait for life to hand you a fun project but rather seek them out. For that I applaud you, perhaps with a little too much envy that might make me stalk you in the not too distant future. 😉

Nice article! I’m glad to see you getting back out there with a pad and paper. I don’t care how many different hats you try on in your life, the world needs you to keep writing and observing. Just remember that.
