Who needs neighbors when you have bald eagles

October 28, 2008 at 12:48 am by thetheorist

A few minutes after I got out to the place to work this evening, I watched a bald eagle fly over the river behind the house. Little things like that make the hard work seem that much easier to handle.

Wow! I didn’t know there were any around here, for some reason I thought they were all in California. Not sure why I thought that…

You’re going to have the most amazing sense of pride and ownership after you guys are done. So excited for you. Can’t wait to BBQ out there!

Yeah, as far as I know, they migrate through Kansas. I don’t think they hang out tons. Dad told me that for years, he had the same bald eagle roost in one of our pastures for about a week every fall, then it would move on. When I was in high school, I got to help him do surgery on one that had been shot. Some asshat yahoo winged one and dad was the first vet they could find on a Sunday afternoon to work on it. It’s amazing how big and powerful they are when they’re right in front of you.
